Dr. Brian Magrane with take his vast knowledge of Florida Shipwreck Treasure and teach the audience to “read” coins. Coins provide clues to world events and alliances. The heraldic symbolism stamped on both sides of the coins are imperative to archeologists to know the time period and history of submerged artifacts. Dr. Magrane will take the “My Sea CIn Collection ” of Florida Treasure coins to show the uniqueness and beauty of these shipwreck treasures of both the Nuestra de Atocha of the 1622 Fleet and the vast gold coins of the 1715 Fleet.
About the Presenter:
An Islamorada-based physician and coin collector, Dr. Magrane became interested in Florida’s sunken treasures. He has become involved in maritime heritage projects and shipwreck treasure research.
