Motown Party Kicks Off Key West Art & Historical Society’s Music at Martello Season

Motown and music lovers will delight in the Music at Martello program kicking off on Saturday, February 11 at 3:00 pm at the historic Fort East Martello with the legendary Myles Savage and his star-studded cast who make way to Key West during their “Motown Party Farewell Tour” for a three-hour performance that will groove and move fans of all ages.

“It’s a last chance to connect with some of the members left from these great American icon groups,” says Myles Savage, the lead vocalist for the All Star Salute.

Savage and his cast will deliver smooth and soulful renditions of hits like “Only You”, “Twilight Time”, “Harbor Lights”, “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”, “My Prayer”, “The Great Pretender”, and many more.

“We’ve probably performed “Only You” ten thousand times,” says Savage. “It was the big hit of The Platters, who had 16 gold records & four platinum albums. It’s a signature song.

Join the “Ambassador of Romance” and his star performers in this special tribute to The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, The Platters, The Coasters and The Drifters.

“There’s no better time than the threshold of Valentine’s Day to get into the spirit of love,” says Savage. “Our songs are actually poetry set to music.  You just don’t find lyrics like this in songs today ‘Heavenly shades of night are falling, It’s twilight time….’ You can just imagine how many people fell in love during our songs.”

The performance is part of Key West Art & Historical Society’s “Music at Martello Series”, a program established to promote the arts and bring live music to the Keys and foster the Fort as a community venue with more music in the coming months. As always at the Music at Martello Series, children under twelve are admitted for free, and guests can enjoy select Key West food vendors and a cash bar during the show.

“We’ve continued to keep the music going, not just for our generation, but for the future generations to come,” says Savage.

Tickets for this special event can be purchased in advance for $60 at KWAHS.ORG/Tickets or at the door.  Proceeds benefit Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3282 and KWAHS programs. For more information, contact Shawn Cowles at 305.295.6616 x 111Your Museums.  Your Community.  It Takes an Island.
