Recreational Fishing in Cuba and the Florida Keys @ Custom House Museum | Key West | Florida | United States

Presented by Will Benson.

Will Benson, a local backcountry guide, and filmmaker traveled to Cuba in 2012 to attend a marine science and conservation symposium held by Cuban officials. Along with representatives from the Bonefish Tarpon Trust, and the Audubon Society, Will documented his experience fishing and meeting with Cuban biologists and guides. During his presentation, he will show his documentary 90 miles and address changes in diplomatic relations with Cuba from a fishing and conservation perspective.  90 Miles is a short documentary about his trip to Cuba and the connections we share as fishermen and citizens of the Florida Keys.

“90 Miles examines the critical ecosystem connections between Cuba and South Florida and the love of fishing on both sides of the Florida Straits. The film combines the thrill and grace of catching large gamefish with the importance of conserving fish and protecting fishing areas. The film features some of the most stunning images of anglers catching bonefish and tarpon on fly in one Cuba’s greatest natural treasures, Zapata Swamp.” —Tim Ohara  The Key West Citizen
